A title sequence is the method that presents film or television programmes.
What is the function of a title sequence?
The title will let you know what the film is about. It will let you see the cast members and key productions. Show you what the film is made up of.

Use of typography elements (texts):
You can see by looking at this title sequence that its a horror film, you can see this by the writing. All the writing is bold black and white and don't have much effects on them. The writing on the sequence different, some small and others big and bold. The big and bold writing is to stand out, and the small writing could be something that is not always that important but is worth reading.
Use of visual imagery/sound elements:The actors that you see in the sequence are all modern actors, you can't see these actors well because of the mood and bold colour that the sequence has been made in. When looking at the actors you can see that the words have covered over the children's face. The other actors you can see are very hidden. It could be the main actors that don't want to be shown until the film. You can see by looking at the sequence that the film is a horror. When looking at this title sequence the audience would feel they have to watch the film now to be able to see what the sequence is trying to tell you before the film is shown. If the audience was interested in a horror film it would make them want to find out what was going out, and why everything is so dark and bold in the title sequence.
Mood/feeling:
The mood you would get from this title sequence is a bad scared mood. This is because you can't see much in the title sequence because its very bold and dark. When you look at the sequence it makes you think about what could be going on. The dark mysterious look on the title sequence could make the audience scared before watching the film. The dark look is a unique look, if somebody was scared of the dark they would turn the light on, but when the audience is looking at this sequence they would be able to, this could make the audience scared.
The use of the above makes the film look scary and you can tell straight away that it would be a horror or thriller. It brings a downer to some people before they watch it as by the sequence they wouldn't be able to predict what was going on.

The text in this title sequence is all the same, the colour of all the writing is yellow. Most of the writing is written in capital letters. With the background being plain black and the writing being in yellow it stands out a lot to the audience. The names of the actors that play in the film are written in capitals because they play an important role and they need to stand out to the audience. The one thing that stands out the most is the name of the film. The name is written more bold and bigger so that it stands out to the audience to remind them of what the film is called.
Use of visual imagery/sound elements:
The imagery on this title sequence is is a bold dark background. This creates a dark feeling to the audience about what could happen. The sound of this film creates horrific thoughts to the audience and plays along to the dark feeling in the title sequence.
Mood/Feeling:
The mood that the audience would get from this title sequence is mysterious. This is because its dark and gloomy background and only little things stand out. The colours from the title sequence could create a bad mood to the audience and make them feel like something bad is going to happen. The mood of this makes the audience want to carry on watching the film because everything in the title sequence has stood out for them.
Over all the the title sequence makes the audience think. They think about what could happen. They think about this because of the music that is being played whilst the sequence is up. They also would think this because of the way everything is set. The bold writing and the mysterious music makes it sound like something is going to jump out or something bad could happen.

Use of typography elements (texts):
In this title sequence the writing is mostly white. The font size of this is small/medium. The placement of the writing is mostly to the left of the screen. The writing that is in white and to the left of the screen are the actors of this film. This is one of the most important things to include in a title sequence. The name of the film is written is a different colour. Its written in red because it will stand out the most out of all the other writing, Its the most important part of the title sequence. By looking at the way the title is written you can see that the film is going to be different. You can see this because of the title written in red would normally be something bad.
Use of visual imagery/sound elements:
The most effective imagery in the sequence would be the blood. The blood is an effective way to show something gloomy and gory. The blood makes the audience think that something bad is going to happen and that the blood is a clue that it could be involved. The blood also shows an animated film that could fit in with everything that is show in the title sequence. In most parts of the title sequence blood is involved. This makes the audience think about what could happen and why its shown so much.
Mood/Feeling:
When looking at the title sequence it makes you feel scared about what could be going on in the film. The mood makes you feel scared because of what you can see, the blood, and the mysterious props on the title sequence.
Richard Morrison says that when you are making a title sequence you should give away to much. This is important so that the audience would want to watch the rest of the film. This is something that would be considered when i am making my final product.
Richard said The batman 1989 environment was not that homogenized. In fact, there weren't many people on the same platform and we were all individual. By what Richard said about The Batman title sequence he thought that it was successful and was proud of what was shown. 'Nobody did anything like it before so that's why it probably retained its timeless feel'
Richard felt that The Sweeney title sequence was successful as he said 'What i enjoyed most was coming up with the whole idea.When this title sequence was made he felt some things were difficult 'Animating blood and its movement become the most crucial and challenging element of the sequence. we had to build special platforms within which we imitated blood movement and filmed it'
